buildingSMART International held its fourth and possibly final fully Virtual Summit in the Autumn of 2021, as we look toward the hopeful return of physical events in 2022. The summit took place on a new online platform – Hopin – between Monday 27th September and Friday 8th October.

The Opening Plenary saw updates from the team at bSI including a dedicated IFC 4.3 session, a look into ‘Sustaining our Society’, as well as a session titled ‘Achieving Organizational Objectives with Asset Management’. Day 2 washost to a morning of presentations by the upvoted proposals from the openBIM Marketplace, followed by keynotes from our sponsors and a session on program activities. A full day of roundtables hosted by our sponsor then preceded the switch to updates and working sessions within the buildingSMART Rooms.

Thank you to all 783 attendees who joined this summit, with a record 61 countries being represented. 202 presentations were delivered during the 2-week event by 139 different speakers. A final word of thanks must go to the 9 event sponsors for helping to make such an event possible.
