The buildingSMART International Virtual Summit Spring 2022

Helping clients and users control their digital destiny

The Spring Virtual Summit is less than two weeks away, and a more detailed schedule has now been published on the event and registration pages.

The duration of this Summit has been reduced to one full week, with an Opening Plenary Day of keynote presentations, three and a half days of Room Sessions, and a final Closing Plenary on Friday afternoon. The cost for attendees will be just €10 to cover platform registration fees, and as such, we look forward to an even larger audience than we have previously seen.

Italy and Spain Approved as Full Chapters

buildingSMART International welcomes the change of status for the Spanish and Italian Chapters, who are now officially confirmed as Full Chapters.

Both Chapters had previously been “Developing Chapters” and had formally submitted their application to become “Full Chapters” to the buildingSMART Board.

IFC 4.3 Sent to ISO

On Monday 7th March, the IFC 4.3 standard was officially sent to ISO for approval. This major milestone is the combination of many years of work and dedication from hundreds of individuals and leading stakeholders who have developed this major standard for international approval. This will have a major impact on infrastructure standardization and will enhance openBIM digital workflows in the future.

"Create a Digital Twin using IFC"

buildingSMART is inviting presentations for a keynote at the upcoming User Conference being held virtually on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th April 2022.

We are looking for the next generation of digital twins based on IFC. These guidelines are designed to drive the concept that digital twins can be underpinned by IFC, and related information can be federated for real-world use. We encourage the community to vote on the best examples and the top 3 will be invited to present during the opening plenary of the user conference.
