buildingSMART International has published a report that will assist organisations concerned with building planning and regulation. This Technical Report reviews the currently available and proposed exchange formats, for supporting open digital working in building regulation code checking addressing Regulatory, Requirements and Recommendations (RRR) work flows.

This report aims to:

• present a case for investigating such issues
• identify solutions
• propose recommendations

It is intended that this will lead to projects that will implement the recommendations by; the buildingSMART community, the research community and regulatory bodies.

Are core part of an asset lifecycle is the checking of client needs against regulations and design standards. The aggregation of design and engineering proposals for analysis and then approval (or rejection) is an area that buildingSMART intends to improve and sets out the case in this RRR report.
