The buildingSMART openBIM Awards Program 2022 – Winners Announced

London, (October 21, 2022) buildingSMART International is delighted to announce the full list of winners from the Awards Program 2022. All finalists presented their projects during the buildingSMART International Standards Summit and National Conference in Montreal, Canada between 19-20 of October. A small finalist jury deliberated following the presentations to select a winner from each category. A total of nine winners were announced at a live awards ceremony. There were also three special mentions, making it a total of twelve awards.

The full list of winners is as follows:

Winner in the category of ASSET MANAGEMENT:

  • Engisis, Minnucci Associati and COSTIM – “ChorusLife: Creation and maintenance of an openBIM Digital Twin for asset management”​ – Italy.

Winner in the category of CONSTRUCTION for BUILDINGS:

  • Henderson Land Development Company Limited, Hip Hing Construction Company Limited – “The Henderson - openBIM Driven Landmark​” – Hong Kong.

Winner in the category of DESIGN for BUILDINGS:

  • Bond Bryan Digital ​– “Department for Education: Gen Zero​” – U.K.

Winner in the category of DESIGN for INFRASTRUCTURE:

  • China Railway Design Corporation ​– “Application of openBIM in the Design and Delivery of Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High Speed Railway​” – China.

Winner in the category of FACILITY MANAGEMENT:

  • Aurecon – “Wellington Railway Station Façade Condition Assessment” – New Zealand.

Winner in the category of HANDOVER:

  • Mostostal Warszawa S.A. – “FHandover to FM with openBIM - Marshal's Office, West Pomerania​​” – Poland.

Winner in the category of PROFESSIONAL RESEARCH:

  • The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology – “Secure openCDE with Blockchain for HKUST Campus-wide Digital Twin with openBIM and openGIS Applications​” – Hong Kong.

Winner in the category of STUDENT RESEARCH:

  • THM (University of Applied Sciences Mittelhessen) ​– “Implementing passive RFID technology into BIM models in combining them with open-source software applications​​” – Germany.

Winner in the category of TECHNOLOGY:

  • Future Insight – “Implementation of BIM-based building permit process in Estonia” – Netherlands.

Special Mentions

  • AEC3 and Statsbygg – “Life-cycle openBIM at Norwegian Viking Age Museum” – Norway
  • Strategic Building Innovation (SBI) – “bSI Information Delivery Specification (IDS) for integrated openBIM and openGIS Platform” – Global
  • Vienna University of Technology – “AR-supported Teaching” – Austria
