buildingSMART International is pleased to welcome several new members to the organisation. The new members have demonstrated a commitment to developing and leveraging open digital standards to improve the built asset economy. They also represent diversity, spanning the infrastructure community to advance project delivery and asset performance. These globally-spread organisations are committed to improving open and interoperable standards by leveraging BIM deliverables, digital workflows and open and collaborative ways of working.

The new members are:

GRAPHISOFT, part of the Nemetschek Group, has joined as an international member to enhance their global position as a BIM software provider for architects. GRAPHISOFT has a mission to bring BIM into common practice for the design and realization of buildings by enabling model-based workflow integration through innovative IT solutions.

BIM Infra.dk has joined as a standard member and brings together two of Denmark’s largest construction firms, Banedanmark and Road Directorate. This 5-year collaboration agreement aims to develop digital transformation in the construction sector based on international standards. Their mission is to adopt BIM processes and will make the next step into a digital future, which is in-line with the Government's strategy for Denmark's digital growth.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) has joined as a standard member and is a tri-jurisdictional government agency that operates transit service in the Washington metropolitan area. As part of its future expansion plans, WMATA wants to leverage the open and interoperable standards at buildingSMART to augment the level of reliability, safety and overall service for its citizens. Their ambition is to develop an ISO 55000 Asset Management system underpinned by reliable information.

OYO Corporation has joined as a standard member and is a geotechnical engineering consultancy that delivers expertise in subsurface geoscience. OYO Corporation delivers safe, reliable and environmentally-friendly solutions for areas such as bionomics, forestry, agriculture, soil environment, and waste engineering.

DBA Group has joined as a standard member and provides information and communication technology for the entire project and asset lifecycle. DBA Group develops process automation software platforms for project, asset and lifecycle management and consulting services for public works departments and other infrastructure sectors.

Pro Material Solutions has joined as a standard member and provides architects, designers, contractors, facility managers and anyone in the commercial construction industry by enabling users access to their digital database of architectural products and materials. Pro Material Solutions helps to save time, money and reduces the environmental impact on the construction sector.

Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) has joined as a standard member and is the infrastructure manager for the national rail network in Italy. Their responsibility includes the management and upgrades along the 16,700 kilometres of tracks, including the stations and physical assets. RFI is also responsible for the technological developments and coordinates safety, reliability and services for its their passengers. RFI is part of the consortium within buildingSMART that is delivering an IFC Rail project.

buildingSMART International is a vendor-neutral and not for profit body that leads the development of open digital information flows across the built asset economy. Its mission is to proactively support industry participants who want to develop open standards for planning, design, procurement, assembly and operation of buildings and infrastructure worldwide. It provides the international network plus the necessary technical and process support. Its members, who range from across the built environment spectrum, collaborate under the buildingSMART organization. buildingSMART is engaged with other international standards bodies such as ISO, the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).
